Rain Garden At the Carlson Center

 

A rain garden is a shallow depression that is planted with deep-rooted native plants and grasses. The rain garden should be positioned near a runoff source like a downspout or driveway to capture rainwater runoff and stop the water from reaching the sewer system... which helps make a healthy watershed for everyone!

Sixty feet of bank have been transformed into a living brushy system at the water’s edge, providing cover and fish habitat while other revegetation plantings become established. This project demonstrates how bio-engineering techniques create attractive scenery, while improving water quality, fish habitat and stability of this section of the riverbank.
